Maison Delord is a family-owned Armagnac house founded in 1893 by Prosper Delord in Lannepax, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, Gascony, on a prime 44-hectare vineyard widely regarded as the appellation's 1st Cru. Now run by the fourth generation of the family, Jérôme and Sylvain Delord, the estate follows organic practices — no pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or fertilisers — and is one of the only Armagnac houses to use both continuous and double-distillation methods, the latter reserved primarily for its Blanche expression. Delord's cellars hold over 1,000 barrels and vintages dating back to 1904, with the oldest and rarest kept in glass bonbonnes in a room the family calls "Paradise" — a genuine, multi-generational commitment to Armagnac craftsmanship across both its aged and unaged expressions.

Blanche is a genuinely distinctive category within Armagnac — an AOC only formally created in 2005, representing a deliberate renaissance of traditional, unaged eau-de-vie that producers have worked to rekindle. Unlike Delord's aged expressions, Blanche is made using double distillation (rather than the continuous method used for the rest of the range) and must be kept in inert containers — never oak — for at least three months before it can even be assessed, capturing the pure, transparent character of the grape itself rather than any wood influence. Delord uses 100% Colombard for this release, sourced from the same organically farmed 42-hectare, first-cru vineyard in Lannepax used across the house's range, with no pesticides, fungicides or fertilisers applied. Because it skips oak ageing entirely, Blanche offers something genuinely different from typical brown spirits — genuinely versatile, it can replace vodka in almost any cocktail to add real depth of flavour, pairs beautifully with caviar, smoked fish, oysters and citrus-driven desserts like lemon tart or key lime pie, and is equally enjoyable neat, chilled, or over ice.
