The Norlan Whisky Glass earns its reputation through genuine engineering, not just aesthetics — designed by Icelandic designer Sruli Recht and refined with input from master distiller Jim McEwan, its internal protrusions were developed by studying biomimicry and modelled with fluid dynamics to create a standing wave when the whisky is swirled, increasing the surface area exposed to air and accelerating oxidation to release more aroma. The inner wall's shape is just as deliberate: it narrows as it rises before flaring out again near the top, focusing aromatics toward the nose while diffusing ethanol away from the face — solving the "ethanol burn" problem that makes high-proof spirits harsh to nose in a standard glass.
