The Rockburn "Seven Barrels" Gibbston Pinot Noir (Gift Box) is one of the most exclusive wines in the Rockburn portfolio — each vintage, only seven individual barrels are selected from the hundreds filled every year, chosen specifically for how eloquently they speak of site and season. Sourced primarily from the Dick Bunton Vineyard in Gibbston, the coolest and most elevated subregion of Central Otago, it delivers dark cherry, wild raspberry, strawberry and floral character with fine spice and delicate forest floor complexity. Presented in a gift box, it's a genuinely collectible, small-batch Pinot Noir built to reward 8+ years of cellaring.

Rockburn Wines, beautifully situated nestled underneath the dramatic Pisa Range in Central Otago, stands as one of New Zealand's premier boutique institutions of Pinot Noir mastery. Established under a vision of translating spectacular southern wilderness terroir directly into world-class wine assets, the house distinguishes itself through its absolute focus on site-specific viticulture and low-yielding parcel selection. By combining meticulous, low-intervention processing with advanced gravity-fed cellaring methods, the winemaking team handles the island's slow-ripening environment to build wines marked by immense purity and structural finesse. Universally celebrated by leading international wine show judges and sommelier circles alike, the estate remains a dominant benchmark for authentic New World innovation.
The name says it all — every year, Rockburn fills hundreds of French oak barrels with Pinot Noir, and Seven Barrels represents the small handful winemaker Malcolm Rees-Francis judges to most eloquently capture the site and season, making genuine barrel selection (not blending for volume) the entire premise of the wine. Fruit is sourced primarily from the Dick Bunton Vineyard in Gibbston — the coolest, most elevated subregion of Central Otago, renowned for producing Pinot Noir of exceptional perfume and purity — using low yields, meticulous canopy management and hand harvesting. Fermented with wild yeasts in small open fermenters with a portion of whole bunches for aromatic lift, the wine matures around 14-15 months in French oak barriques, roughly a quarter to half new. It's earned serious critical recognition, including 95 points from Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, 93 points from James Halliday's Wine Companion, Silver Medal (90 points) at the Decanter International Wine Awards, and Silver Medal (92 points) at the International Wine Challenge. Presented in a gift box, it's a genuinely special, collectible bottle — an excellent choice for serious Pinot Noir collectors or as a premium gift, and pairs beautifully with duck or pigeon.
