Pierro is a Margaret River winery founded in 1979 by Dr Mike Peterkin on Caves Road in Willyabrup, Western Australia, now also involving winemaker Nic Peterkin. Widely regarded as one of the region's founding and most acclaimed Chardonnay producers, Pierro has been credited with establishing a stylistic benchmark that many other Australian Chardonnay makers have followed since the mid-1980s. The estate's Chardonnay is consistently rated among the finest in the country, combining great finesse with impressive power, and the winery's reputation extends to its red wines as well, particularly in strong vintages.

Pierro is one of the founding wineries of Margaret River, established in 1979 by Dr Mike Peterkin, and has been widely credited with setting a stylistic trend for Australian Chardonnay that many other producers have since followed. This 2024 release comes from 30-year-old vines on the estate's own Willyabrup Valley slopes, hand-picked across nine separate passes to balance acidity, aromatic complexity and richness — a level of vineyard precision few Chardonnay producers attempt. Despite coming from a warm, early vintage, critic Ray Jordan scored it 98 points and named it his White Wine of the Year, noting its delicate, pristine brightness defied the conditions it was grown in. It's a genuinely cellar-worthy Chardonnay, drinking well now and continuing to develop for up to a decade, making it an excellent match for seafood and white meat dishes as well as a strong pick for serious collectors of Australian white wine.
