Four Pillars is an award-winning Australian distillery known for crafting modern gins that highlight bold botanicals and exceptional balance.

This gin exists because of a genuine friendship between two Yarra Valley institutions — Four Pillars co-founder Cameron Mackenzie had known Yarra Yering since the distillery's earliest days, and in 2020 struck a trade with legendary winemaker Sarah Crowe ("Crowey"), swapping some of her old Dry Red barrels for gin, with the plan to age Rare Dry Gin in them. When that experiment worked, Crowe agreed to sell Four Pillars two parcels of fruit from Underhill — widely regarded as the Yarra Valley's finest Shiraz vineyard — turning a barrel-ageing project into a genuine single-vineyard gin collaboration. The result is deliberately unlike Four Pillars' regular Bloody Shiraz Gin: deeper in colour, higher in alcohol, more intensely sweet and considerably more complex, with stronger tannins and an Amaro-like bitterness that the distillery itself says "requires a couple of ice cubes and... some quiet moments of concentration and reflection." Originally released 24 August 2021 at an RRP of $175 through very limited allocation at Dan Murphy's, it marked the first instalment of what became Four Pillars' ongoing annual Single Vineyard Bloody Shiraz Series. A genuinely rare, story-rich release for gin collectors and Yarra Valley wine enthusiasts alike — best sipped slowly over ice rather than mixed.
