From Batch 2 of GlenAllachie’s Virgin Oak Series, this 10 Year Old single malt showcases the bold influence of Chinquapin oak. The whisky was first matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels before undergoing secondary ageing in casks made from Chinquapin Oak (Quercus Muehlenbergii), sourced from Missouri’s Northern Ozark region. These casks were air-dried for almost four years, then toasted to a medium level, allowing the spirit to extract vibrant layers of spice and sweetness. Bottled at 48% ABV, non-chill filtered, and with no colour added, this limited release is a zesty, complex expression of GlenAllachie’s innovative wood management.
Nose: Crème brûlée, melted sugars, caramelised fruits, and oak.
Palate: Caramelised blackcurrant pie with warming spice.
Finish: Lingering notes of cocoa, dark chocolate, and dark fruits.
