Hibiki is a premium Japanese whisky brand known for its smooth, balanced blends and rich, layered flavors crafted from carefully matured malt and grain whiskies.

Hibiki 12 was the first age-statement Hibiki to be discontinued, in 2015, and Suntory has now brought it back for the first time in 11 years. It is a genuinely new blend: Fukuyo went back to Hibiki’s original vision of blending Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita whiskies, but built it on a base of Chita grain whisky aged in American oak, rounded out with malt whiskies aged in Spanish oak and Mizunara. A 12-year age statement on a blend means every component, malt and grain, is at least 12 years old, which is a real constraint in a category where aged Japanese stock is scarce. Early critical reception has been strong, with World of Fine Spirits rating it 88 points and praising its precision and poise, and Whiskybase users scoring it above 88. The 24-faceted bottle, one facet for each of the 24 microseasons of the traditional Japanese calendar, is part of Hibiki’s long-standing design identity. Suntory suggests serving it over a hand-carved Marugori ice ball so it opens gradually as the ice melts. It’s a good pick for Hibiki fans who missed the original 12, and for collectors tracking Suntory’s age-statement comeback.
