This release follows Kelsey McKechnie, The Balvenie Malt Master, on her journey to Kentucky to source virgin oak barrels. She brought them back to Scotland, where the team deeply toasted the casks at The Balvenie Cooperage. They then filled them with single malt previously aged in ex-bourbon barrels. As a result, the whisky gained extra layers of sweetness, oak character, and lively complexity. Furthermore, the story reflects both her innovative approach and the distillery’s drive to expand traditional Scotch whisky making.
